Dennis R. Hatfield, DDS
Dr. Hatfield has been chosen as a 2016 Best Dentist by the National Consumer Advisory Board.
Dr. Hatfield has been staying ahead of the future of dentistry for 40 years. He earned his BS degree from the University of Maryland in 1971 and his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from The Ohio State University in 1974. Graduating in the top 10% of his class, he developed a specialty in oral surgery and endodontics, or root canal therapy. In 1975, Dr. Hatfield was awarded a Dental internship in the Johns Hopkins Hospital Program at City Hospital in Baltimore City. The program emphasized dental surgery, the medically compromised dental patient, and oral medicine.
Over the years, Dr. Hatfield has built a solid practice focused on cosmetic and restorative dentistry as well as periodontal treatment, or soft tissue management. To keep pace with rapid developments in his field, he devotes 100-150 hours each year to continuing education.

While living in the Silver Spring area in 1976, Dr. Hatfield was an avid community leader and volunteer. A Rotarian for 25 years, he served twice as club president. He sponsored a number of community athletic teams in various leagues within Montgomery County and served as president of the Springbrook Athletic Booster Club. He also served as a board member of the Pathways School, a nonprofit facility for at-risk children and donated health care services to the needy by participating in the Donated Dental Services program of the Maryland State Dental Society.
Dr. Hatfield lives in Annapolis with his wife, Robin. They have two children: Heather and Woody.
